The South West’s largest housing provider, LiveWest and leading partnerships business, Vistry Partnerships, have joined forces once again to develop a scheme for the 32-acre site, building on their collaborative portfolio of new homes across the South West.
It is hoped the first homes will be ready to move into during autumn this year.
The development has been named Harrington Park, nodding to the well-known area of the suburb and the design, which incorporates open green space, play areas and ponds for the new residents and existing community.
The scheme is set to take around eight years to complete and will provide new homes across a mix of tenures including, affordable rental, shared ownership and open market sale.
65 homes were originally earmarked for affordable housing as part of the outline planning consent, but LiveWest’s current plans are to increase this to 152 homes with the support of funding from both LiveWest and Homes England.
The proposed scheme will include a range of homes, from one-bedroom flats to four-bedroom family houses, with the open market homes being sold under the Linden Homes brand.

The development will benefit from a host of environmental benefits.
Rainwater will be sustainably managed using two ponds with a network of landscaped swales. This design will not only reduce flooding but will also create biodiverse habitats and functional green spaces for the community.
Elsewhere, wildlife corridors are being planned to promote and encourage wildlife to the site. A green boulevard will be lined with native trees and wildflower meadow strips in a bid to create ecological connectivity which will help animals move around the site.
The development will also see the creation of badger sets, bat tubes and bird boxes.
In order to promote bicycle use in and around the development, a cycle route will be created through the site which will connect to Harrington Lane and off site to the wider Exeter area.
Charging points to support electric cars will be installed and there will also be the facility to rent electric bikes.
