Situated on a hilltop overlooking the spectacular scenery of the Jurassic Coast, The Bucket & Spade Café in Shaldon is delighted to be presented with a ‘Silver’ award at the Taste of the West Awards 2022 in the Café and Tearoom category.

Josh Donald, managing director of Coast View Holiday Park commented: “We’re thrilled with this incredible accolade from Taste of the West. It’s fantastic we are growing in popularity with the local community and holidaymakers. I’m so proud of our dedicated staff who work hard to deliver great service and delicious locally sourced food to our customers.”

The Taste of the West judges were particularly impressed with The Bucket & Spade Café’s commitment to local sourcing, with Dartmoor steak, local Brixham fish, west country ham and sausages on the menu. The judges also stated that the café was very good value for money, given the generous portion sizes and commented: “We really enjoyed our visit here. A bright, airy, and welcoming space with friendly staff and great food. On a summer’s evening I can imagine sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine is a very pleasant thing to do.”

Offering delicious home-cooked food, a wide selection of local artisan beers, wines and spirits, the Bucket & Spade is more than just a café but a place to meet family and friends to celebrate and enjoy themselves against a beautiful backdrop. It exudes a distinct holiday ambience as soon as you walk through the door. Relax and unwind on the stunning terrace or the restaurant serving breakfast, lunch or an early dinner and gaze over the recently updated menu.

The Taste of the West Awards programme has been promoting and supporting the South West food and drink industry for three decades and is now the region’s most prestigious, sustainable food and drink awards programme. All entrants are visited anonymously by a Taste of the West judge and receive a detailed evaluation report with constructive feedback on a number of criteria on the front of house experience – including commitment to and communication of local sourcing, as well as the quality of food & drink, quality of service, atmosphere and ambience etc.
