Stagecoach South West has launched a new campaign to recognise the everyday heroes who have made a difference in their communities this year, often quietly without expecting anything in return. The bus operator is calling on residents from Exeter, East Devon, Mid Devon, Torbay, Teignbridge, Plymouth, North Devon to nominate someone whose actions have supported others, strengthened their neighbourhood or contributed to community life.

From offering support to vulnerable neighbours and volunteering with local groups to raising awareness for good causes or keeping community projects alive, Stagecoach wants to hear the stories behind the individuals who have shown true selfless spirit. The winner will receive a month of complimentary bus travel along with a £250 voucher.

Stagecoach is particularly interested in stories where bus travel has helped individuals visit relatives, volunteer, attend community events or support others by running errands and providing practical help to highlight the important role public transport plays in enabling people to stay connected and give back.

Stagecoach South West Managing Director Peter Knight says “Every community has people who step up when it matters most. They check in on neighbours, offer support when times are tough, volunteer their time or simply bring positivity into the lives of others. These people rarely seek thanks, but their efforts make a huge difference. The Extra Mile campaign is our way of celebrating them and sharing the stories that show exactly why community spirit still matters.”

If you know someone who has gone The Extra Mile this year, you can nominate them here: https://www.stagecoachbus.com/promos-and-offers/south-west/the-extra-mile

The closing date for entries is 31st December 2025
