The RSPCA and fire services rescued a wild deer which was stuck in electrical fencing near Dartmoor Zoo in Devon on Saturday 10 October.

Inspector Becky Wadey and Animal Rescue Officer (ARO) Simon Kite along with the Camelshead technical rescue team from Devon and Cornwall Fire Service attended to help rescue the poor deer.

Inspector Beccy Wadey said: “The deer had become stuck in some electrical fencing and was running round the field and couldn’t free himself. We managed to coax the deer against the fence so we could use that to hold him and cut away the fencing.

“Deer often get wrapped up in all sorts of netting or fencing and the more they struggle the more they get tangled up which is what must have happened here.

“Thankfully, the deer wasn’t injured and we were able to release him straight away.”
