A group of ‘Cornish pirates’ from the Halfway Harmony choir in Kingsand & Cawsand raised £761.00 for the Torpoint and Rame Peninsula Lions New Year’s day Dip.

20% of the total raised went to the Lions own charities leaving a magnificent total of £610.00 which was donated to the South West Mesothelioma Support Group.

The South West Mesothelioma Group is based at The Macmillan Mustard Tree at Derriford Hospital Plymouth and supports patients who have been diagnosed with asbestos related cancer. The group also spreads asbestos awareness throughout the region and raises funds for mesothelioma research.

Halfway Harmony have given ongoing support to the South West Mesothelioma Group in memory of choir member Mike Cramp who sadly passed away from mesothelioma in June 2015.

A presentation evening was held at the 200 club in Torpoint on 26 February. Martin Walsh handed over the cheque to support group member William Searle.

William said; ‘I was proud to attend the event on behalf of the South West Mesothelioma Group. Yet again, Halfway Harmony have raised an amazing amount for us. I think it is a very fitting tribute to the late Mike Cramp. Thanks once again to all those involved.’
