The Learn2Live road safety partnership is offering an opportunity for parents of 16-19 year olds to attend an event to learn about how they can help young drivers and passengers of young drivers to stay safe when travelling in vehicles.

Learn2Live Parents Event 17th June 2015 Watermark Centre Ivybridge

Learn2Live are proud to announce that we will be hosting a special Parent’s event on 17th June (Doors open at 6.30pm) in Ivybridge, Devon at the Watermark Centre.

If you are a parent of a 16-19 year old then this is something that you have to attend.
Emergency service and road safety professionals will tell you what you need to know to reduce the chances of your child becoming involved in a vehicle crash.

The event is completely FREE to attend but you must book in advance either using our online booking form or by signing up with one of our official promotion members.
We have a limited number of places available for this unique presentation. To book a place please complete the online booking form on the Learn2Live website, www.learn-2-live.org.uk/l2l-parents-event

Learn 2 Live informs Devon students and parents of the potential dangers on the county’s roads caused by speeding, drink driving and distractions such as using mobile phones.

Research shows that young drivers are much more likely than experienced drivers to be involved in high speed crashes, single vehicle crashes involving losing control, crashes in the dark and crashes when overtaking and negotiating bends. One in five drivers crash within their first year of driving.

As well as offering advice, the scheme also examines the wider impact of a crash on the family and friends of those involved and on the emergency service personnel who have to deal with the aftermath of incidents.

The presentation recounts real events and are told by real members of the emergency services.

“The real live stories and tragic events are always difficult to hear but we hope that the attendees will come away thinking very hard about the possible consequences  of driving dangerously.” Councillor Stuart Hughes, Devon County Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Transportation
The scheme is a partnership of local authorities and emergency services made up of Devon County Council, Torbay Council, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue service, Devon and Cornwall Constabulary, Plymouth City council, Cornwall Council, Highways Agency, South Western Ambulance Service Trust and Association of Professional Driving Instructors (South West).

Since Learn 2 Live started, 30,000 pupils in Devon and Cornwall have seen the powerful presentation.
