Devon charity Space Youth Services has announced the appointment of Angela Coton as its new CEO.

It’s the start of a new chapter for the charity, which delivers high quality services and programmes to young people across Devon through eight youth centres and a special school in Dawlish.

Angela has 10 years of experience in the non-profit sector and a proven track record for driving positive change. Previously she was CEO of Streatham Youth and Community Trust, a charity focused on giving local young people aged up to 24 the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Her passion for empowering young people and dedication to creating a better world for all is the driving force behind her career. Of her new role, Angela said:

"I am excited to be joining such a respected and impactful organisation. Young people living in rural and coastal communities often face multiple disadvantages preventing them from fulfilling their potential; my own background gives me plenty of insight into how hard it can be to believe in yourself and to recognise your own strengths.

“I’m determined to unlock the full potential of Space, to ensure it remains well placed to support young people across Devon for many years to come."

Angela will work closely with the dedicated staff and volunteers at Space to build on the impressive work that has already been done as well as explore new ways of supporting young people in need.

Designate Chair of Trustees, Kate Few-Singh said: “Angela is an inspiring leader who is committed to creating positive change. We are confident that she will help us to achieve our goals and to make a real difference to the lives of young people in Devon.

“We are delighted to welcome her to our team and look forward to working with her to make a positive impact in our community.”

Angela’s appointment came after the retirement of former CEO Kev Henman. He was instrumental in taking Space Youth Services from an idea to a flourishing organisation, reaching new heights in terms of educational programmes, partnerships, and outreach initiatives.

Kate added: “We would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Kev for the years he has spent dedicated to the organisation and its mission.”
