McDonald’s in Tiverton, at Tiverton Retail Park, which is owned and operated by local Franchisee, David Shawyer, has reopened after a ‘Convenience of the Future’ redesign, which promises to deliver a better customer experience for all.

At the reopening, David and his team were joined by representatives from CEDA – an Exeter‑based charity – to present a £20,000 donation that will help the organisation continue its vital work. CEDA supports adults, children and young people with disabilities to build independence, develop new skills and gain greater control over their lives, while championing inclusion and equality across the community. David’s portfolio of restaurants has a long‑standing partnership with the charity, regularly hosting in‑restaurant sessions and activities to support its mission.

Local McDonald’s Franchisee, David Shawyer, who owns and operates 11 McDonald’s restaurants in Devon and Somerset, said: “I’m proud to reinvest in our Tiverton restaurant and I am excited for our customers to see the fresh new look of the restaurant! I’m confident that the changes made to the restaurant will not only benefit our customers but also our restaurant team as these will help make their jobs a little easier.

“The reopening was made extra special by being joined by one of my charity partners CEDA who do fantastic work in Devon, empowering disabled children and adults. At McDonald’s we are committed to supporting the local community and the work my team has done with the charity is a prime example of this.”

Diana Cole, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CEDA said; We are excited to have had a sneak peek at the Tiverton restaurant before it reopened today and everyone here at CEDA is deeply grateful for the generous donation of £20,000 from David and his team. Their continued support will make a significant difference to the work we do with adults and children with disabilities in the local community. Thank you for helping us continue our mission to create inclusive opportunities and improve lives.

With consumers increasingly looking for greater speed, efficiency and choice when ordering their food, McDonald’s ambitious‘Convenience of the Future’ restaurant revamp programme will combine a new restaurant layout with the latest technology to create a more seamless and enjoyable experience for customers.

Improvements have been made for restaurant crew with a redesign of the crew room which will create a more relaxing and comfortable space for them to take a well-deserved break.

While the traditional walk-in and Drive Thru remain core to how customers order, the redesign of McDonald’s kitchen and dining areas as part of Convenience of the Future will better integrate digital sales channels, the McDonald’s App and make smarter use of internal space to enhance the dine in experience.

With dedicated areas for the different ways to order, along with the removal of the front counter, the revamp will offer a more efficient way to order and will leave customers with more space to enjoy their meal.
