Man dies following house fire in Yelverton

A 53-year-old man has died following a fire at a residential property in Bere Alston, Yelverton.

Fire and Police received a call at around 7am on Boxing Day (26th December) following a call from a member of the public.

Fire attended and ambulance took a 53-year old man to Derriford Hospital where he was declared deceased. The man’s next of kin have been informed. There was no-one else in the property at the time of the fire.

Police are working with the Fire service and investigations continue, but at this time we believe the fire was started accidentally, and therefore are not treating the fire suspicious at this time.
