Anyone faithful to the traditional nineteenth-century Beatrix Potter storybooks will love the Peter Rabbit™ winter activity trail that has opened in the gardens of Buckland Abbey near Plymouth.

The adventure trail at Buckland Abbey has been inspired by Beatrix Potter’s iconic tales.   With a sprinkle of festive magic, Peter Rabbit fans step through Buckland’s Kitchen Garden gate straight into Mr McGregor’s garden.

Carrot baubles dress Mr McGregor’s Christmas trees and the bunny jackets of Peter Rabbit, Flopsy, Mopsy and Cottontail lovingly hand-made by Buckland Costume Group volunteers decorate the vegetable beds.

Look out for Peter Rabbit’s famous blue jacket on Mr McGregor’s scarecrow. Count up the carrots Peter dropped when he was chased away with a rake. Further along the trail spot the familiar watercolour characters of Squirrel Nutkin, Jemima Puddleduck, Mrs Tiggywinkle and their real life habitats set in the winter landscape of Buckland Abbey's gardens.

Trail explorers receive a Peter Rabbit good bag with an activity pack, pencil, badge and certificate to set them off on their adventure. The trail is open daily 10am – 3.30pm (except Christmas Day and Boxing Day).

Helen Trebble, Buckland Abbey’s Visitor Experience Manager said:  “Peter Rabbit is synonymous with garden adventures and is perfectly at home in the family-friendly gardens of Buckland Abbey.  The Abbey may not be open this festive season, but we can’t wait to ignite the imagination of Peter Rabbit fans and their families with some Christmas magic when they step inside Mr McGregor's garden and explore the outdoors in plenty of safe space and fresh air”.
