Following the recent disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic, East Devon District Council is now able to resume its green waste collections from 11 May 2020.

The council will endeavour to collect all green waste on its customers’ normal schedule dates, but is asking residents’ for their support and understanding for any missed collections, as the service is operating with reduced staff numbers.

Some collections will start the following week as it’s a two-weekly cycle.  Customers are advised to check their collection date for the correct week either via the ‘When is my bin collected’ page https://eastdevon.gov.uk/recycling-and-waste/recycling-and-waste-information/when-is-my-bin-collected/ on the East Devon website, or via the East Devon app and Alexa. Customers can also check www.eastdevon.gov.uk/collections   for updates on collections.

Anyone whose scheduled collection is not picked up should put their green bin out on the next collection date.

The green waste collection crews will be unable to empty additional waste containers or sacks. Residents should put out their green waste for collection in the green bin provided and any additional green waste should be stored for the next collection.

East Devon regrets that it is currently unable to take any new green waste subscriptions. Any customers who would like a subscription should contact the Green Waste service on 01395 571515  or email csc@eastdevon.gov.uk to register their interest. They will then be contacted once the council is able to take new subscriptions

Any existing green waste customer should renew their subscription when it expires. A three month period will be automatically added to their subscription period to cover the Coronavirus suspension and to ensure they receive value for money.

Cllr Geoff Jung, East Devon’s portfolio holder for the environment, said:

“I’d like to thank all our green waste customers for their patience and support during this difficult period. We are working in a challenging environment and I can assure you that our collection crews will do their absolute utmost to ensure that this important and popular service is resumed as smoothly and efficiently as circumstances allow.”
