Around 4.00am on Wednesday 3rd June, police were called to Milehouse Pharmacy, in Wolseley Road, Plymouth following a report of a burglary.

The offender(s) had entered the premises by forcing the front door and once inside following an untidy search, forced open the controlled drug cabinet stealing the contents.

They also stole the till drawer.

The offender(s) spent a considerable amount of time at the premises and obviously intended to steal the controlled drugs.
Amongst the controlled drugs stolen were bottles of methadone, diazapam and tamazapam tablets together with quantities of subutex and buprenorphine.

Detective inspector John Bancroft said, "Clearly this pharmacy was targetted by thieves intending to steal controlled drugs.

"The drugs were securely locked in a substantial cabinet and the offenders must have been on the premises for sometime.

" The controlled drugs are kept locked and dispensed by a higly trained pharmacist because they are potentially very dangerous if taken when not prescribed. The methadone in particular is carefully dispensed and if taken in uncontrolled circumstances it could result in serious health risks".

He added," I would urge anyone who is either offered any of these controlled drugs or has any information regarding who is responsible to make contact with us."

Anyone who has any information is asked to contact police on 101@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111 or online at www.Crimestoppers-uk.org
