Police have released a CCTV image of a man they want to speak to in connection with a ‘ringing the changes’ scam in Plymouth.

A man is believed to have entered the Bargain Booze shop in Mutley Plain at around 6.25pm on Friday 27 March and asked the shop assistant to change £300 worth of £10 notes into £20 notes.

The shop assistant became confused when the man changed his mind and asked to change the notes into coins.

As a result of the confusion the staff member handed over an extra £100 to the offender.

Officers are appealing for the public’s help in identifying the man pictured and would like anyone who knows who he is to get in touch.

Anyone with information is asked to email 101@devonandcornwall.pnn.police.uk, call 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111, quoting CR/020755/15.
