The Legasee Educational Trust is looking to interview Veterans who served as Naval Ratings during the Second World War and have stories to share about the convoys.

Funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), “Keeping Britain Afloat” will use footage from the video interviews to create educational content for schools and universities and also provide Chatham’s Dockyard Trust with material for a permanent exhibition about the strategic importance of the convoys.

With the majority of Ssecond World War Veterans in their 90’s, it may well prove the last opportunity to capture their personal stories and recollections. Vic Ould, a Veteran of the Single Ship convoys which escorted the 'Monster' troop ships like the Queen Mary said, 'many of us won't be around to celebrate the 70th Anniversary next year but it's good to know that Legasee will ensure our stories survive for generations to come'.

Legasee will be interviewing in the area in March and is looking for male and female Naval Veterans from the Second World War.

Do you know someone with a story to share? In the first instance, please contact Martin Bisiker on 020 7033 9773.
