The Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre celebrated its 15th anniversary at the weekend.

Opened in 1999, the not-for-profit Mount Batten Centre is one of the largest activity centres in the UK.

The centre has welcomed thousands through its doors over the last 15 years and has trained, educated and provided lots of fun and laughter on both water and on land.

The centre has a small, friendly, dedicated and highly experienced team, always on hand to ensure that visitors have an enjoyable time in a safe and welcoming environment. The centre prides itself on its exemplary health and safety record.

Commanding stunning views looking out towards Plymouth’s historic Barbican area, the Hoe and across to Mount Edgcumbe, the Mount Batten Centre is built on the site of the old Sergeants Mess which formed part of the RAF Mount Batten flying boat station. It is perfectly situated on the tidal estuary of The Sound, making it an ideal, and safe, position for recreational or professional use.

Alex King, General Manager of the Mount Batten Centre said: "Myself and my team are delighted to be celebrating the Centre's fifteen years this year; we've got lots of activities and events planned throughout the summer to celebrate the anniversary. "

The centre hosted the third Active Devon activities festival on Saturday which kicked off the centre's 15 year celebrations.

The centre is open all year round and works with various partners both locally and across the country. Many clubs base themselves at the centre, including Plymouth University, the Royal Yachting Association frequently host training sessions and seminars at the centre and several schools return year on year for the centre’s exceptional schools residential programme. The centre also has a dedicated Conference and Events manager to manage the many meetings, conference, weddings and events that take place each year.

The centre has recently added Stand Up Paddleboarding to its growing list of activities; the world’s fastest growing watersport is only available at a small number of venues in the South West. The centre has also held over ten Pirate Powerboat Parties since launching the idea earlier this year – these fun, and safe, children’s parties offer something a bit different for the birthday boy or girl and their friends.
