Bovey Castle donates over £500 worth of gifts and food parcels to local community
A Devon hotel is donating hundreds of pounds’ worth of toys, gifts and food parcels to the local community this Christmas.
Five-star Bovey Castle has announced that for every child staying with them over the Christmas period, they will donate a toy or gift worth £20 on their behalf to the Cash For Kids charity and their Mission Christmas initiative, which is aiming to make sure every child in Exeter wakes up to a gift on Christmas Day.
For every room booked at the hotel over Christmas – which has 60 bedrooms and 22 self-catering lodges - a food parcel made up of treats and essentials will also be donated to the Trussell Trust food bank in Tavistock.
Dean Gunston, general manager at Bovey Castle, said: “Nobody should go without – especially during the festive season – which is why we are doing our bit to spread a bit of Christmas magic by helping out those in need.
“So far we have managed to raise more than £520 worth of toys and gifts for children in the local area, and we are aiming to distribute around 100 food parcels.
“Both charities do great work in our local area, and we hope our gesture helps to put smiles on some faces this festive season.”
