Blackpool Sands is thrilled to announce phase two of an exciting refurbishment project that will introduce appetising menus for beachfront dining

The project, which started in February, marks the beginning of a journey to create a vibrant new bar and restaurant space at one of South Devon's most breathtaking coastal destinations, with opening set for May.

Under the guidance of Charlie and Zuzana Deuchar, the indoor eating area will be enhanced to create a brand-new laid-back dining experience mirroring the serene surroundings of the beach and South Devon coastline. The new bar and restaurant will offer table service, with food and drink sourced exclusively from the West Country or from producers committed to reducing their environmental impact. Meanwhile, visitors can still enjoy takeaway food which will continue to be entirely plastic and glass free and open every day from 9am to 5pm, with extended hours during the summer season.

Speaking about the project, Charlie said, "We are thrilled to embark on this journey with the Newman family to make Blackpool Sands a premier destination for beachside dining. The vision is to create a destination that not only showcases the natural beauty of the South Devon coast but also offers an unparalleled dining experience for everyone to enjoy."

Blackpool Sands is pleased to incorporate Nkuku products, a well-known interiors company recognised for its unique and inspiring creations. The project will feature custom-made furniture, lighting, and interior elements, and the design work will be attributed to a talented local design team, who will bring their expertise to create a distinctive aesthetic appeal.

The new bar and restaurant will provide a relaxed and family-friendly ambiance, featuring bamboo, rustic wooden furnishings, rich textures and ample greenery to create an appealing atmosphere.

The carefully crafted menu will showcase the best of what Devon has to offer with seasonality and sustainability a key theme and inspired by the sea using the best local produce sourced from passionate suppliers.

Furthermore, the refurbished area will play host to a variety of exciting events, including fashion shows, live music performances and themed gatherings, promising an engaging and dynamic calendar of entertainment throughout the year, including its laid back Apres Sea Saturday music sessions which will resume in the summer.

As the refurbishment project takes shape, Blackpool Sands will collaborate with partners such as Voyager Coffee, Salcombe Dairy, Bays Brewery, Sea Change Wines, Barbouys, Salcombe Gin, Sea Kayak Devon and Red Paddle, among others, to enhance the overall guest experience and introduce innovative offerings that reflect the unique charm of this destination.

Blackpool Sands is privately owned by the Newman family who joined forces with the Deuchars last year to create a new and exciting visitor  experience at the beach with a waste minimal approach to menu planning, and a commitment to supporting smaller producers who want to reduce their impact on the planet.
