Appeal after Plymouth teenager assaulted

Police are appealing for information following an unprovoked assault on a 16-year-old girl in Barne Barton, Plymouth.

The Plymouth teenager was walking home on a secluded pathway through Blackie Woods between 8.25pm and 8.40pm on Sunday [23 August] when the assault happened.

She found her path blocked by four teenagers and when she asked to pass by one of the girls dragged her to the ground. She was then kicked and punched in the head and body.

The girl sustained cuts and bruising to her face and leg following the assault which involved two males and two females, all aged around 17-18. They all ran off in the direction of Wolseley Road.

Police say she was left shocked and upset by the assault which she described as totally unprovoked.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to the incident and for anyone who saw the group in the area of the woods or Wolseley Road at the time.
