An ace opportunity for a sports mad young person is being served by Plymouth City Council and the Lawn Tennis Association.

The call is going out for a tennis development apprentice to help the Council and the association to develop growing interest and enthusiasm for sport in the city.

The city has a Plymouth Tennis Plan to develop programmes within the community to encourage and increase participation in tennis, in particular meeting the needs of target groups.

The role would involve planning and running activities and events, promoting activities and providing advice and information.

The apprentice would work in partnership with many groups and organisations such as the Lawn Tennis Association, tennis clubs and schools.

Councillor Peter Smith, deputy leader said: “This is a great opportunity for the right young person.

“We’re looking for someone who’s really passionate about the sport and can deliver coaching and competition activities as well as co-ordinate and attend events.

“As a Council we think it is important to give our young people real opportunity to sample life at work. Not only will they be able to hone their skills at marketing, organising and promoting, the city gets someone committed to making tennis more available for everyone."
