Andy’s Man Club: Breaking the Silence Around Men’s Mental Health
In communities across the UK, one organisation is quietly making a powerful difference to men’s mental health — Andy's Man Club.
Founded with a simple but vital mission to end the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and reduce male suicide, Andy’s Man Club provides a safe, supportive space where men can talk openly without judgement. At the heart of the organisation are two powerful messages: “It’s okay to talk” and “Talking saves lives.”
The concept is straightforward: every Monday evening at 7:00pm (excluding bank holidays), men aged 18 and over are invited to attend a group session. There is no cost to attend, no referral needed, and no booking required — just turn up. The sessions are designed to be informal, welcoming, and confidential, allowing men to share as much or as little as they feel comfortable with.
What sets Andy’s Man Club apart is its accessibility and community-driven approach. Groups are run by trained volunteers, many of whom have experienced their own challenges and understand first-hand the importance of having someone to talk to. These volunteers open the doors each week, creating an environment where everyone is equal and every voice matters.
The organisation’s ethos is simple but powerful: “It’s okay to talk.” In a society where many men still feel pressure to stay silent about their struggles, Andy’s Man Club is helping to change that narrative — proving that opening up is not a weakness, but a strength, and that talking truly can save lives.
Simon England, a facilitator with the group, shared his personal experience:
“I started at Andy’s Man Club after a relationship breakdown and some money issues. Andy’s Man Club was so welcoming and made me feel safe and secure and was great getting me through the storm that I was going through at the time. I’ve now progressed through Andy’s Man Club to lead facilitator.
Andy’s Man Club is built with volunteers who open the doors on a Monday night and welcome people through the doors. Everyone in that room has been through the door. Andy’s Man Club saved my life as well as my family, and I am now in a much better place thanks to this.”
Stories like Simon’s highlight the real impact the group is having — not just on individuals, but on families and communities as a whole.
Whether someone is dealing with stress, anxiety, depression, or simply needs a space to talk, Andy’s Man Club offers a lifeline. No pressure, no expectations — just a room full of men supporting each other.
