To coincide with the release of the new Baywatch film, Dogs Trust Ilfracombe’s very own search and rescue team are on the look out for a home for their water-loving ‘Barkwatch’ pooch, Rory.

Found as a stray before arriving at the West Down-based rehoming centre, a favourite past time of four-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier is patrolling the beach – with his eyes firmly fixed on the horizon in the hope that he’ll find a loving new owner.

Rogan Quinn, Rehoming Centre Assistant Manager at Dogs Trust Ilfracombe, said:
“Rory absolutely loves the beach and splashing around in the waves and would’ve been a welcome addition to the cast of Baywatch.

“We are really hoping that as he approaches his six month anniversary with us, he won’t have to wait much longer to find his forever home on dry land. His carers hope an owner will ‘be ready’, ‘be there’ and ‘won’t let him out of their sight!’

The team say that Rory is a bouncy, excitable boy with a real zest for life. He loves to play fetch with toys, showing off his repertoire of tricks but most of all loves to play in water.

Rogan continues:
“We’re hoping that very soon he’ll exchange the beach for a sofa so he’ll no longer have to search for a new owner.

“He is a really lovely boy but can be a little over-playful so would need to be the only pet in the home and if there are children, they would need to be over the age of 16. He would thrive in a home where he can go for walks in wide open spaces, and preferably near a beach!”

If you think you could offer Rory the home he is longing for, please call 0300 303 0292 or visit Dogs Trust Ilfracombe at Hazeldene, West Down, Ilfracombe, EX34 8NU.
