A talented Plymouth bartender is shaking up Grosvenor Casinos national drinks menu with the launch of his award-winning cocktail to raise funds for the Carers Trust.

After causing a stir by winning the coveted Bartender of the Year title earlier this year, 24-year-old, Leon White, will see his whisky-signature cocktail, Saint and Sinner, roll out in 43 of Grosvenor Casinos’ venues across the country just in time for the festive season.

The latest charity initiative from the UK’s largest casino operator will mean its charity partner, Carers Trust, will receive £1 from every sale of Leon’s new cocktail on the menu which will help to transform the lives of unpaid carers.

Leon, who is part of the team at Grosvenor Casinos Plymouth, has been a bartender for six years. He is passionate about bartending and mixology and enjoys creating new recipes for friends. Being able to do this for a living, and winning titles such as Grosvenor Casinos Bartender of the Year, is a dream come true for the 24-year-old.

Leon said about his win“I’m delighted to support such an important initiative and the fact that a charity donation for each cocktail sale of the cocktail I created will go to Carers Trust makes it a double win for me.

“I often see drinks menus lacking a whisky-based cocktail and feel the spirit still carries some stigma. A punchy whisky cocktail deserves its place on menus which is why I chose this spirit as my base. The smokiness, spice flavours, and warmth when drinking this really does make it the perfect Winter drink.

“I’m so excited to have my personal invention, that I’m proud to serve, be rolled out nationwide. I hope that Grosvenor Casinos customers enjoy the taste while knowing they’ve contributed to an inspiring charity.”

The Saint and Sinner cocktail is a well-balanced concoction of warming flavours. Elderflower and grape notes from the St Germain Elderflower Liqueur are combined with the sweet citrusy orange from the Triple Sec. Smokiness and spices from the Johnnie Walker Black Label whisky bring out dried fruit flavours that mimic the taste of a Christmas pudding whilst fresh lime juice enhances the flavours and cuts through the warmth with a fresh zesty hint. With orange, spices, and warming whisky shaken up into a cocktail over ice, it makes the perfect Winter tipple.

Martin Cave, Head of Food and Beverage at Grosvenor Casinos, said: “We’re always looking at meaningful ways to continue to support our 10-year charity partner, Carers Trust. While expanding our cocktail offering, this is a great opportunity to encourage customers to try our new drink and donate to a valuable cause at the same time. Drinking great cocktails while donating to an inspiring charity is a win-win in our eyes.”

The Saint and Sinner cocktail is available at Grosvenor Casino Plymouth as well as 42 venues nationwide and is on the menu in the Plymouth casino for £8.50.
