Following the resounding success of its involvement in the 2011 and 2013 events, Plymouth Yacht Haven has again been selected as the host marina for the finishing yachts in this year’s Rolex Fastnet Race.

The biennial event; one of ocean racing’s most prestigious, takes competitors across more than 600 miles of mercurial tides and currents over the course of up to 5 days, finishing at the host marina between the 19th and 21st of August.

The Royal Ocean Racing Club’s decision to finish the race at Plymouth Yacht Haven was welcomed by Marina Manager Laura Whinney and her team who are proud to be providing the space both afloat and ashore to host such a fantastic event.

Laura Whinney, commented:  “We’re delighted to have been chosen to host the finish of the Rolex Fastnet again.  It is great confirmation that Plymouth Yacht Haven is recognised as the ‘very best’ of the South West’s numerous Five Gold Anchor marinas.

There has been an exceptional take up for this year’s race and with entries still coming in, demand for places has been greater than ever.  We are looking forward to beating our record in 2013 of providing berthing for 263 of the fleet’s finishers.    This year, even more dedicated berthing areas will be available for competitors, and our experienced team will again be on hand to welcome boats in as they arrive – whatever time of the day or night.

The Royal Ocean Racing Club is putting on some great entertainment within the race village which will be open to visitors, and we will also be offering visitor passes to stroll along the pontoons, admire the boats and soak up the wonderful atmosphere.”

Those visiting by car during the event will find free parking in the large council-run public car park at Mount Batten.  Alternatively, anyone wishing to book a marina berth either before or after the Rolex Fastnet race and take advantage of the luxurious new facilities, can visit www.yachthavens.com/plymouth to make an enquiry or call 01752 404231 for more information.
