Successful Year for Seaton Wetlands Summer Holiday Club
East Devon District Council is pleased to announce another highly successful year for the Seaton Wetlands Summer Holiday Club, which continues to bring children closer to nature.
Organised annually during the first week of August by the East Devon District Council Countryside team, the Summer Holiday Club has once again proven immensely popular, with all places selling out rapidly. Led by Educational Ranger Penny, the week offers an engaging and varied programme tailored for children aged 7-11. Activities include stream dipping, minibeast hunts, den building, wildlife trails, themed games, nature crafts, campfire cooking, and even time to unwind in a hammock. Families have the option to book individual days or the full week at a discounted rate, however early booking is essential due to high demand.
Councillor Richard Jefferies, Portfolio Holder for Environment – Nature & Climate, said:“Seaton Wetlands is more than just a nature reserve, it is an invaluable space where the East Devon Countryside team can inspire and educate the next generation about the importance of nature and wildlife. These engaging activities foster a deep appreciation for our local environment”
Countryside Manager, James Chubb said: “We are delighted by the continued success of our events, especially the Summer Holiday Club, which grows in popularity each year. This success is a true testament to the dedication and hard work of Penny and the entire Countryside team”.
Educational Ranger, Penny added: “I’m thrilled by the impact the Holiday Club has on the children who attend. We welcome familiar faces each year as well as new ones, and witnessing their enthusiasm and enjoyment makes all the planning worthwhile”
In addition to the Holiday Club, Seaton Wetlands offers a range of other family-friendly events throughout August, including Summer Crafts and Fun in the Stream, all of which regularly sell out shortly after release.
