Volpone

Saturday 07 March

The classic satire of cunning and greed from African Caribbean theatre company, Tangle.

Volpone is rich – filthy rich. For him the glory of accumulating wealth is more thrilling than its simple possession.

In lust for more, he and his assistant, Mosca, swindle three of the wealthiest men in the city, each believing they are his sole heir. Daring trickery and avarice ensue in this bitingly fresh version of Ben Jonson’s comedy.

A multi-skilled ensemble of three actors performs to an enticing backdrop of jazz-fusion, delivered with Tangle’s trademark dynamism.

End Of The Pier Show

Saturday 04 April

At the end of a soon-to-be-closed-down pier in a forgotten seaside town, Pierre the pier handyman spends the last weeks as he always does: catching fish for his old bedridden mother and making strange and wonderful things from the rubbish he finds on the beach.

Then who should wash into his life but a homeless mermaid with a spiky attitude and a story to tell! And things aren’t going to be the same again… Can kindness lead to great things? Can a bit less litter make a difference? Can the world’s first human/mermaid rock ‘n’ roll band make big waves?

Renowned stand-up poet and lo-fi theatre maker Jonny Fluffypunk presents a brand spanking new little show for families, with poetry, puppetry, story, song and a healthy dose of anarchy.

Cycle

Tuesday 07 – Wednesday 08 April

Ever wondered how to hold yourself as though someone else is holding you? Rosie has.

Rosie is an intimacy addict and a lonely woman. Sometimes she appears like a cruel apparition in an exquisitely kitsch dress.

Cycle, by Rosie Race, is a cross between live-art, dance and sparse realism. Above all it is a darkly comic look at how to tell the truth. This show is about the weight of loneliness and the desire for touch.
