Are you still picking Christmas tree needles out of the boot of your car from last year? Then help is at hand as Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) is offering a Christmas tree recycling service for households across South Devon, in partnership with JustHelping!

Last Christmas, ‘treecyclers’ raised thousands for the charity, which runs the Little Bridge House children’s hospice in North Devon, as well as Charlton Farm near Bristol and Little Harbour in St Austell. This year, it is collecting real trees in even more locations in return for a donation to CHSW. The postcodes in South Devon are TQ1, TQ2, TQ3, TQ4, TQ5, TQ6, TQ7, TQ9, TQ11, TQ12, TQ13, TQ14.

Volunteers from Biffa and Ringway will be collecting trees between Friday 9 January to Tuesday 13 January 2026 . Booking closes on Monday 5 January 2026 at midnight.

CHSW Area Fundraiser Daniela Hopkins said: “We are so pleased to bring this easy, green and charitable way to recycle your real Christmas tree to households in South Devon once again. Recycling your Christmas tree through CHSW is not only hassle-free but also helps us support local babies, children, young people and their families.”

“Thank you so much to Biffa and Ringway who are generously donating their time and vehicles to help us collect the Christmas trees – we are so grateful for their support.”

The charity is hoping to raise vital funds to support babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions and support bereaved families by asking for a donation when booking your tree in to be recycled.

  • £10 could fund paints and materials for messy play, helping babies, children and young people express how they feel in a creative way
  • £25 could help fund fun times in the hydrotherapy pool for families to make memories together
  • £30 could help fund our 24 hour phone line so even at Christmas every call is answered
  • £45 could help pay for freshly prepared meals for a family during a festive stay
  • £86 could help fund 1 hour of care for a family at one of our hospices at Christmas and all year round.
