Rowcroft Hospice is calling on green-fingered enthusiasts to participate in its Open Gardens programme 2024. Following the resounding success of the previous two years, the hospice aims to assemble another diverse lineup of approximately 30 local gardens to be showcased during spring and summer, all in support of raising vital funds for end-of-life care.

The charity’s previous Open Gardens programme featured a delightful array of gardens including charming cottage gardens, wildflowers meadows, woodland retreats, formal landscapes, orchards, bog gardens, smallholdings, bee- and butterfly-friendly spaces, vegetable patches and gardens with water features such as ponds, streams or ocean views. Participating gardens often went the extra mile, offering treats like cream teas to further the fundraising efforts.

“Last year, our wonderful Open Garden events raised enough funds for Rowcroft’s Hospice at Home service to provide expert end-of-life care to eight patients in their last two weeks of life at home,” said Hayley Townsend, Rowcroft Challenges Fundraiser. “This year we're keen to build on that success by showcasing an even greater diversity of gardens, in all shapes, colours, sizes, and styles. We invite anyone with a garden they'd love to share with their community to get in touch and be part of this meaningful initiative.”

The village of Galmpton – which last year saw multiple gardens taking part in the hospice’s Open Gardens programme – will be opening gardens to the pubic again for 2024. Mike Tate, Secretary of Galmpton Festival Association said:

“Galmpton Festival Association are pleased to be back on board the Rowcroft Hospice Open Garden Programme again as the event has been so well attended in previous years. Currently 12 gardens in the village will be open on Sunday 16 June, so there will be plenty to see.”
