.... If so, they now have the chance to dress up as their favourite and take part in our Superhero Children’s Fun Run in July, in aid of our Gold Dust Appeal.

The fun run event is taking place on Saturday 4 June at 14:00 at the Brickfields Sports Centre, Plymouth, and will include medals for all superheroes, a mini superhero toddle, a teddy bears’ picnic, afternoon tea and a family fete.

Gold Dust Fundraiser, Emma Cronin, explained: “Whether your child wants to be Wonder Woman, Batman, Superman or any other superhero, they can dress up, get sponsored and enjoy our Gold Dust Fun Run.

“By supporting us on the Fun Run, you really will be making such a difference to so many children’s lives and I would like to thank everyone in advance for getting involved.”

Mason Vosper Mason Vosper, aged five, is the first fun runner to sign up. Earlier this week, dressed as a superhero, he joined Anita Dykes, Matron for Paediatrics, to put stickers on our wall chart, helping us to mark our £30,000 milestone.

He said: “I want to do something for all the children who have to stay in hospital. We can be real superheroes running around the track and having fun!”

The Gold Dust Appeal aims to raise £100,000 to create bright, exciting and welcoming wards for local children and young people at Derriford Hospital. This inaugural event is being supported by Derriford Children’s Cancer Service and Children’s Happy Hospital Fund, who are united in their support of the appeal. We all want to be able to care for children in a stimulating and sensitive environment, with bright and spacious surroundings, which will provide greater comfort and privacy for children and their families.
