Foot Anstey trainee solicitor fights food poverty this winter

Olupitan Aganga, Trainee Solicitor at Foot Anstey LLP, has used the firm's CSR hour initiative to volunteer with FoodCycle, the community project charity.

Olupitan, based in Exeter, joined FoodCycle as part of its kitchen staff where she helped cook meals for homeless and vulnerable individuals.

FoodCycle is a community project that brings people in need together through the power of good food. Its mission is to provide nourishing meals, using food which would otherwise go to waste, to the hungry and lonely in the local communities it operates in.

When asked about her time with FoodCycle, Olupitan said: "FoodCycle's work is vital to local communities and this project offers a wonderful opportunity to give people a warm experience over the Christmas period. I was personally encouraged by the prospect of meeting new people from the community, both volunteers and guests, who I may not otherwise have had the chance to meet.

"My afternoon with FoodCycle was time well spent. As part of the kitchen staff I cooked, cleaned and, most importantly, I was able to offer help to a cause I am passionate about. It was great to meet and interact with others who volunteered and hear about what drove them to get involved - and it was fantastic to see how much the service was valued by those using it. I felt a great sense of fulfilment from this rewarding experience."
