A Plymouth marketing and advertising agency has donated an egg-stra special gift to the city’s food bank in the run up to Easter.
Rather than buying Easter eggs, the nine employees at Sigma Marketing and Advertising based in Cremyll Street, decided to hold a collection. They raised £50 and decided to donate it to Plymouth Foodbank, based in Manor Street, Stonehouse.
The money will go towards providing food and support for people in short-term financial crisis across the city.
Lesley Shorrocks, managing director of Sigma Marketing and Advertising, said: “We were chatting in the office about Easter and, as with most offices chocolates goes down well, but it got us thinking how busy the food bank just down the road is. So we thought we’d all chip in and make a donation.”
Katy Bartlett, support worker at Plymouth Foodbank, said all donations, big and small, were well received. She said: “We are extremely grateful for every single donation as every little bit helps.
“At Easter we do get quite a few donations and nice treats, but we are now coming up towards summer where we see a drop in donations. We do get a lot of donations from schools but obviously they close over the summer. Families need extra support from us as they are not able to get free school meals – which can be their child’s only hot meal of the day.”
