Following the unprecedented success of one of South Devon's newest housing developments, leading housebuilder David Wilson Homes is scoping out plans for an additional new community alongside it.

More than 40 of the new homes are now occupied at David Wilson Homes' Braid Park, Tiverton and only seven of the total 60 homes are left for sale. Construction work is due to complete this summer and the new community will include large areas of public open space.

Prospective buyers are urged to act fast if they are interested in buying one of the last remaining homes at Braid Park where there is a range of support on offer from the government's new Help to Buy scheme aimed at first time buyers, to part exchange offers and deposit contribution schemes for NHS workers and members of the armed forces.

The wide variety of homes under construction means a balanced, mixed community is developing including first-time buyers, growing families and people downsizing or retiring. The three-storey town houses have been proving particularly popular as people's requirements from their home have changed so significantly in the past year, with a huge increase in home-working as a result of the covid pandemic. The open layout and generous room sizes mean the homes can be configured for a range of uses, from home working to hobbies.

Plans are currently being worked up for a brand-new community alongside Braid Park, which will benefit from the well-connected yet peaceful, semi-rural location within easy reach of the historic market town of Tiverton. Surrounded by country parks and close to Tiverton Golf Course, both communities will enjoy easy access to open, green space which has also grown in significance in recent months.

The housing market remains strong despite the pandemic and in December interest in buying a David Wilson Home in the South West was up almost a third (32%) on the same period the previous year, even through the traditionally quiet pre-Christmas period.

Nicki Reid, sales director at Barratt David Wilson Homes Exeter, said:

"We're proud to be delivering much-needed, high quality new homes for the Devon community - despite the huge challenges of the pandemic. Our own research has shown how the last year has caused many of us to think carefully about where we live in terms of both location and the design and space of the home itself. We're delighted to see the homes at Braid Park being snapped up by people from the local area. The development has been so successful we are actively working up plans to build another community next door and we look forward to sharing plans as they develop."

The sales centres and show homes at Braid Park are open by appointment only, in line with the government's official guidance, and with a full range of safety and social distancing procedures in place. Live, one-to-one, personal video tours with a sales adviser are also available, allowing people to get a real feel for the homes and community from the comfort and safety of their current home and without the need to travel. 360 videos and virtual flythrough tours are also available on the David Wilson Homes website.
