Award-winning local developer, Larkfleet Homes, has teamed up with garden expert Sally Killick of Cornflower Blue Gardens, to give new homeowners a helping hand in the garden.

Buyers of newbuild homes might see their blank canvas gardens as either an exciting challenge or an overwhelming prospect. To help them get started, Larkfleet Homes has commissioned a series of ‘how to’ videoswith garden designer and gardening coach, Sally Killick of Cornflower Blue Gardens.

In a series of clips, Sally has shared some helpful tips for getting started in – or making the most of – your garden: “Starting out with a bare garden is a fantastic opportunity for homeowners to set up their outside space to suit their needs and lifestyle, but it can also be a bit daunting.

“During lockdown we’ve seen a huge surge in interest in gardening. Now that we’re able to socialise outside it’s important for people to see the garden as an extension of their home.

“It doesn’t matter how large or small your garden is – or even if you just start out with a few containers or planters – watching something grow is enormously rewarding and can truly help you turn a house into a home.”

The short clips cover everything from getting started growing vegetables to advice around mulching, plant choiceand using items such as outdoor rugs and mirrors. There’re even some suggestions for growing the garnishes to add to your favourite cocktail!

Sam Hart, Sales and Marketing Director at Larkfleet Homes said: “Gardening has been shown to have huge mental and physical health benefits, so we’re delighted to team up with Sally to help people get to grips with their outdoor space.

“Most Larkfleet Homes offer a garden, with many accessed via French Doors to really bring the outside in. During the last year, many of us have been spending more time at home so whether it’s creating a sunny spot for al fresco dining or improving the view from your window, turning your attention to the garden can make a world of difference.”

Sally, who is a County Organiser for the National Garden Scheme added: “Social media is full of aspirational garden set ups, but you can also get real-life inspiration by visiting local gardens. The National Garden Scheme gives you the opportunity to visit private gardens ranging from pretty cottage styles to modern architectural outdoor spaces which is a wonderful way to help you decide how you’d like your own outdoor space to look.”

With homes currently available at The Saxons in North Petherton, Larkfleet has opportunities for buyers whatever stage they are at and the range of buying schemes available bring homeownership another step closer.
