Composters and water butts up for grabs

Plymouth residents are being invited to a one-day sale of compost bins and water butts at discounted prices.

A range of compost bins, water butts and wormeries will be up for grabs at the event taking place on Sunday 14 April.

Plymouth City Council has teamed up with Original Organics Limited to offer compost bins and other environmentally-friendly garden features at discounted prices at the Park and Ride car park at Home Park, off Outland Road, Milehouse.

Cabinet Member for the Environment, Councillor Brian Vincent said: “These have been successful in the past with over 600 compost bins sold in one event. With the grass-cutting season nearly upon us, now is the perfect time to get composting and turn your garden and kitchen waste into nutritious compost.

“Not only is this good for your garden, it’s good for the environment as less waste is collected from your home and sent to landfill. All this helps us keep the cost of waste disposal down.”

The Council’s allotments officer will also be on hand to share tips on how to make the most of your composting as well as wider aspects of the city’s allotment schemes.

Compost bins can be up to 60 per cent off costing £12 instead of £29.95 or £15 instead of £34.95

For those who want to avoid queues on the day, compost bins can be reserved and paid for in advance by credit or debit card on the telephone order hotline 01884 841515 or visit www.originalorganics.co.uk/plymouth
