Book a fabulous holiday to Brighton and Leonardslee Gardens

Tally Ho have some places remaining on their fabulous holiday by coach to Brighton on Sunday 8th May returning on Thursday 12th May.  We stay in the Old Ship Hotel right on Brighton's iconic seafront. This hotel is a historic Georgian building and each room is individually designed with distinctive characterful features that will make for a comfortable stay, many with stunning panoramic sea views. Take a stroll along the bustling promenade or indulge in some retail therapy at The Lanes during your stay. All standard bedrooms come with en-suite bathrooms and plush interiors to make you feel at home. Rooms are also furnished with comfortable lounge chairs, tea & coffee making facilities, flatscreen TV with freeview channels & free WiFi. There is a lift to all floors.

On Monday, we spend the morning at Leonardslee. From March to June this garden comes alive with a riot of colour. Some of the marvels you can expect to see include Magnolias towering 40 feet high, Camellias in groves, footpaths winding through hills carpeted in bluebells, many hundreds of Rhododendrons and later the show of Azaleas. Leonardslee is home to an extraordinary range of wildlife including foxes, rabbits, grey squirrels, badgers, weasels, stoats, shrews, voles, and our now famous wallabies.

The estate is home to over 100 free roaming deer, there are three varieties: Sika, Axis and Fallow. Green woodpeckers are often spotted, while herons enjoy the shallow lakeside water where large carp feed on the surface. Birds regularly sighted in spring include electric blue kingfishers, yellow Wagtails and even Buzzards, who have taken to nesting in one of the giant Sequoia (Redwoods) from California. Learn all about the cultivars planted, the viticulture and the vine-to-bottle process, which will culminate in a Sussex Sparkling wine. Find out at first hand why we have chosen to be part of the English wine growing revolution and taste five estate wine from Benguela Cove Lagoon Wine Estate.

On Tuesday morning we take a scenic drive through the Sussex countryside to visit Bateman's. This impressive 17th century house nestling in the East Sussex countryside, was Rudyard Kipling's home from 1902 until his death in 1936. Kipling and his wife instantly fell in love with the house, its wooded landscape and the sanctuary it afforded them.

On Wednesday, enjoy day in Brighton starting with a visit to the amazing Royal Pavilion with its colourful history stretching back over 200 years and originally built as a seaside pleasure palace for King George IV. The rest of the day is your own to explore this seaside town, wander through The Lanes, a shopper's paradise of independent shops and boutiques, galleries and restaurants. Or visit the British Airways i360 - 162 metre observation tower which is situated on the seafront. As you gently glide up 450 ft in the spacious glass viewing pod, you experience 360 degree views of Brighton and the expansive stretch of coastline all the way from Seven Sisters cliffs to the Isle of Wight.
