Popular Vietnamese eatery, Pho, has opened its doors to diners as its inaugural Plymouth restaurant launches at Royal William Yard. After months of work to create a unique and vibrant space, recruit a skilled team, and deliver a mouth-watering menu; this must-visit new restaurant is now open for business.

The latest addition to iconic Grade I listed Melville building, the exciting new restaurant has space for 171 diners, seated both indoors and outside. It will be based alongside Everyman cinema, Hub Box, and coworking space BLOCK Plymouth within the newly restored space, following years of work by regeneration specialists, Urban Splash, to bring the grand building back to life.

The view is every bit as impressive on the inside too, with artwork adorning the walls by British cartoonist, Julian Hanshaw, known for his distinctive style and aptly titles graphic novels ‘The Art Of Pho’. The restaurant also features octopus themed graffiti wall by Lei Mai Lemaow, famed for her cool, contemporary and colourful creations.

A new entry into Royal William Yard’s global food offering, Pho serves up authentic flavours and freshly cooked dishes. Its signature main is an aromatic noodle soup; the national dish of Vietnam. Tasty treats also include spring and summer rolls, Vietnamese pancakes, spicy salads, wok-fried rice, noodle dishes and curries, plus Vietnamese beers and coffees, fresh juices and cocktails.

Pho is known for serving great value, healthy Vietnamese food, cooked from fresh each day – with no central kitchen. It also caters for all, with 98% of the menu being gluten free and accredited by Coeliac UK. In addition, 40% of the menu is vegan. Younger diners are welcomed, with an affordable children’s menu.

Pho was founded in 2005 by husband and wife, Stephen and Juliette Wall, after they returned from travelling Vietnam. Pho has restaurants all across the UK, with Plymouth now being it’s most southerly location.  In a welcome boost to the local hospitality industry, a variety of new jobs have been created in Plymouth, equivalent to 25 full time roles.

Emily Jones, Commercial Director at Urban Splash, said: “Plymouth has an increasingly diverse food scene, and we are thrilled to be at the forefront of this at Royal William Yard. We are eager for visitors to try Pho and love what it offers. It is another brilliant addition to a remarkable building that we’ve poured years of hard work and passion into restoring, and it’s fast filling up with businesses that bring something fresh and exciting to the city.”

Pho founder, Stephen Wall, added: “Royal William Yard is a cracking site, both in terms of its location and grandeur and we look forward to opening here alongside the other brilliant restaurants already operating here. We’re very excited about showing the people of Plymouth exactly what our food and vibe is all about and we can’t wait to welcome them through our doors.”
