After a hugely successful launch event on Wednesday 22nd June, the iconic Salcombe Dairy has opened its entirely original, nautical themed ice cream parlour in the heart of the popular maritime town Dartmouth in South Devon. With its prime positioning and huge appeal this innovative shop has just opened its doors to give tourists and locals alike a completely new and truly scrumptious experience.

Commenting on the launch, Salcombe Dairy’s managing director Dan Bly says: “We recognised the growing trend for ‘safari dinners’ and are bringing our twist on this to Dartmouth. As well as being a scooping parlour, we have created an inviting menu consisting of Salcombe Dairy sundaes, which will be the perfect end to any relaxed meal enjoyed at one of Dartmouth’s many local eateries.” Dan continues: “We are particularly keen on giving families a fun, relaxed destination where they will be able to indulge without breaking the bank.”

This new Salcombe Dairy parlour has been stylishly designed with a giant navy Salcombe Yawl replica used to serve the ice cream from and attractive white beach hut booths to sit in. It will entice passers-by with mouth-watering sundae combinations, including a retro Knickerbocker Glory, sublime Chocolate and Honeycomb Heaven, and a Cream Tea Sundae.

Salcombe Dairy’s version of the all time classic sundae, the Knickerbocker Glory, will delight with raspberry ripple and strawberry ice cream served in a tall glass with mango sorbet, raspberry and mango sauces, and peaches in strawberry jelly. This is then topped with cream, wafers and sprinkles with a maraschino cherry. Another favourite, the Chocolate and Honeycomb Heaven, oozes with Belgian chocolate, salted caramel and honeycomb ice cream in a sundae bowl served with chocolate brownie chunks, honeycomb pieces and Belgian dark chocolate flakes. Devon Cream Tea lovers will enjoy this Westcountry tradition served as a sundae. With its Devon cream and vanilla clotted cream ice cream, blackcurrant sorbet, blueberry sauce, fresh strawberries and crunchy biscuit crumb, topped with clotted cream and wafers, it’s bound to be another bestseller.

For those who want to be creative, a Designer Sundae can be made using three ice cream flavours, a topping of choice, cream and wafers with a maraschino cherry on top. The fun yellow boats served to children with two scoops of any ice cream, sprinkles, chocolate sauce and a mini waffle cone is guaranteed to make this their favourite place in town.

Not only is it a must visit destination for all to merrily delve into scoops of delicious ice cream, it’s also the perfect environment to enjoy an Origin coffee or a traditional pot of Tregothnan tea and, importantly, has a good free Wi-Fi connection.

The new opening adds to Salcombe Dairy’s existing portfolio of shops across South Devon, including the well-known store in Salcombe, at which the ice cream is made, one in Kingsbridge and another new shop in Dawlish. Salcombe Dairy is also launching a pop up shop in Stokeley Farm Shop for the summer months, opening during the last weekend in July.

In addition to the aforementioned shops, Salcombe Dairy ice cream can be found in tubs from a host of both national and local stockists including Ocado, Whole Foods, regional Co-op and Tesco stores and independent retailers, farm shops and delis.

Salcombe Dairy, established in 1981, uses only the finest ingredients and sources local products where possible. Making ice cream, sorbets and frozen yoghurt, all of their products are gluten and egg free and they also have a vegan suitable sorbet range, including a chocolate sorbet.
