Learn how to sketch your dogs and then enjoy a delicious lunch at the Millbrook Inn on Friday, January 29 with renowned South Hams-based artist John Ashton.

Coffee and biscuits at 9.30am will start the day off and then John will demonstrate how to sketch pictures of your dog from photographs. He will also give tips on how to take great pictures with a camera.

John, who lives at Aveton Gifford in South Devon, said: “I’m looking forward to spending time at the Millbrook with fellow dog lovers when I will give some hints and tips about how to sketch them. The Millbrook is a real favourite of mine in such a beautiful location. Combining a morning of sketching with a delicious lunch sounds just about perfect to me.”

In 2010 John was short listed for the David Shepherd Foundation Wildlife Artist of the Year Award and had two works exhibited in the Mall Galleries. He also had pictures at the National Exhibition of Wildlife Art in the Wirral, and the Marwell International Wildlife Exhibition in Hampshire.

Lunch will be from the ‘menu du jour’ and prepared by award winning chef Jean-Philippe Bidart and his team.

Diana Hunt, who owns the pub with her husband Ian Dent said: “We are thrilled that John will be joining us and we hope that this will become a regular event. So many of our friends are dog lovers so we thought learning how to sketch them would be a wonderful idea. It will also be a lovely way for people to make new friends as they reproduce their caninse on paper!”

The cost is £25 per person. Places will be limited and must be pre-booked by calling 01548 531581.
