Step right up to the greatest show in town, this October half-term in Plymouth’s Central Park, Theatre Royal Plymouth will be hosting their iconic Funky Llama Festival with Big Top magic and funky Halloween Fun.

The event is inclusive and accessible for all and is programmed by TRP’s Funky Llama Steering Group. Funky Llama challenges stereotypes and celebrates the creative talents of disabled adults. It involves large-scale, inclusive performing arts and social events as well as increasing the amount of arts opportunities available throughout the region.

With wild costumes, wacky workshops and magical moments for everyone to enjoy, this is the festival fix needed after lockdown. Theatre Royal Plymouth’s flagship community event – Funky Llama Festival is back. Expect live music, DJs, craft stalls, a fully licensed bar, circus acts, a circus play area, comedy from local and national performers, and the latest show from Extraordinary Bodies – Human, the UK's leading disabled and non-disabled circus company and partnership between Diverse City and Cirque Bijou.

Victoria Whelan, Engagement Manager at Theatre Royal Plymouth said: “We are so excited to be delivering such an important festival that gives a voice to and celebrates this sector. Funky Llama is one of TRP’s flagship community projects and after the events of the last year we are so excited to be able to bring people back together to celebrate one another. Complete with a big top in the heart of the city at Central Park, the vision for this event has been created by our differently abled steering group who have worked incredibly hard to make this event a reality for 2021.“

Tickets are on sale to the public now and can be booked online at theatreroyal.com or by calling the Theatre Royal Plymouth Box Office on 01752 267222.

Funky Llama Festival 2021 will be held in Central Park, Plymouth on Friday 29 and Saturday 30 October from 10am to 10pm. The two day event package price is £15.

The festival welcomes families and friends, open to all ages and all abilities. The party continues as the sun goes down with cabaret acts, live music, and a silent disco. This year’s festival will be funkier than ever before, and after the year we’ve all had, we need a fabulous funky time!

James Bridgewater, a member of TRP’s Funky Llama Steering Group said: “The festival is a great chance to show what we can do and just have a party with live music and have a dance together. It is also a chance to influence some of the decisions that are made and let people know who we are and what we can do. There’s lots of disability stuff in Bristol and further north, but not much in the South West except for Funky Llama.“

Fully accessible changing facilities will be available on the festival site. Scheduled BSL interpreted performances, on site guide dog rest area and audio festival guide are also available. Full line up to be announced in Summer 2021.

The festival is a totally inclusive event that is programmed by our differently abled Funky Llama Steering Group. Funky Llama offers people opportunities to actively participate in creating and delivering a programme of inclusive arts events. Monthly socials and creative workshops are designed to develop well-being, enhance life skills, promote social networking and reduce isolation.
