Chart-topping British band Kaiser Chiefs are the first act to be announced for this summer's eagerly awaited MTV Crashes Plymouth event.

The spectacular live music event, being organised by MTV in collaboration with Plymouth City Council, will take place on Plymouth Hoe on Tuesday 15 July.

After 10,000 tickets were snapped up by Plymouth residents in minutes, 5,000 more tickets went on national release on Friday 9 May, giving music fans another opportunity to see massive names play the one-off gig.

The Brit Award-winning Kaiser Chiefs, who are riding high on the success of their number one album ‘Education, Education, Education & War’, are looking forward to performing on Plymouth’s stunning waterfront.

Ricky Wilson said: “We're looking forward to this gig. Plymouth Hoe looks a pretty great spot to play."

Deputy Council Leader Peter Smith said: “We’re delighted that Kaiser Chiefs are coming – they are a great act. More announcements are on the way.”

MTV Crashes Plymouth is one of the highlights in the city’s Three Towns centenary celebrations. It will be broadcast on MTV’s flagship UK music TV channels MTV Music and MTV Live HD and subsequently across its other music channels, showcasing Britain’s Ocean City in over 35 countries.

As well as live coverage of the performances, MTV will be screening interviews with the acts, filmed in various Plymouth locations.

Further acts will be added to the line-up. For the latest news follow @MTVPlymouth on Twitter or visit the What’sOnPlymouth Facebook page.
