Libraries will be keeping children entertained this Easter holiday with an egg-citing ensemble of free music-themed activities.

‘Make Music’ is inspired by the iOrchestra events being brought to Plymouth by the Philharmonia Orchestra later this month and will include stories, crafts, film shows and live performances.

Local musicians funded by the iOrchestra project will be taking part in special Rhymetime sessions for the under-fours at selected libraries between 14 April and 20 May. They will be performing traditional nursery rhymes and giving little ones the chance to join in with percussion instruments at the end.

Larger libraries will be running craft and story sessions based on books such as ‘The Philharmonic Gets Dressed’ and ‘Why Handel Waggled his Wig’ and there will be free family film shows at Plympton and Plymstock libraries.

On Saturday 10 May the Central Children’s Library will be hosting an exciting live finale performance from a Philharmonia Orchestra musician and the Laira Youth Band. The concert will begin at 2pm and is open to all ages, but advance booking is recommended.
