Lucky students to cook or VIPs as City College turns up the heat for MTV crashes
Delighted catering students will be frying, boiling and basting for some very important people this Summer when MTV crashes Plymouth Hoe.
City College Plymouth is the new Corporate Hospitality Partner for the event on July 27 and 28 – which will be broadcast across the country on MTV’s flagship music channels.
The budding Masterchefs will be cooking up a storm in the VIP area where they will be offering street-style food to guests who have come to watch a galaxy of musical talent including X-Factor winner Louisa Johnson, Sigma, Martin Garrix and Busted.
The sponsorship follows the success of Flavour Fest - the South West’s largest food festival - where City College students took part in cooking displays and events throughout the weekend.
City College Plymouth spokeswoman Pauline Hands said: “The students and staff will be preparing, cooking and serving the gourmet food to VIP corporate hospitality guests and we couldn’t be more excited.
“It’s all about the food and we’re working on the recipes and dishes now. I’m sure the VIPs coming to Plymouth will know the standard of food delivered by our PL1 Restaurant staff and students and will be looking forward to a real treat!
“It’s going to be a great two days and this sponsorship will provide valuable experience and opportunities for our students looking to go into the hospitality industry.
“These high profile events are fantastic for the City and students joining the College in September will have the opportunity to be part of other City events during their courses gaining relevant work experience that can lead to excellent hospitality careers.”
The latest acts to sign up for the South West’s biggest Summer party are chart-toppers Charli XCX and Duke Dumont B2B Gorgon City who will be performing their new single together for the very first time.
Other top acts include Wilkinson, R3wire and Varksi and the music ranges from dance tunes from Ibiza to top International DJ sets, boy bands to multi-platinum record sellers.
The event, now entering its fourth year, is organised by MTV in collaboration with Plymouth City Council. Tickets are on sale now for just £15 per day plus £2 booking fee, or event passes for both days are available for £27.50 plus £2 booking fee. Find out more at mtvcrashesplymouth.co.uk
