UTC Plymouth Students Celebrate Excellent Post-16 Results

Students at UTC Plymouth, part of Reach South Academy Trust, are celebrating today, Thursday 13th August, after achieving an excellent set of post-16 results across academic, technical and vocational qualifications and securing their chosen next steps.

A standout achievement this year is that 100% of T Level students have secured their preferred destinations, with seven students progressing to university, including the University of Plymouth, Swansea University and Oxford Brookes University. Other students have successfully moved into employment, apprenticeships and further specialist training.

Among this year’s success stories at UTC Plymouth:

• Scarlet S will study Motorsport Technology at Oxford Brookes University, following her T Level in Digital Production, Design and Development.
• Charlie L will study Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) at the University of Plymouth, following his T Level in Digital Production, Design and Development.
• Ethan M will join the Royal Navy after completing his T Level in Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing.
• Patryk W will study Aerospace Engineering at the University of South Wales after completing his T Level in Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing.

Students also achieved strong outcomes in English and Maths qualifications, including an 83% pass rate in Functional Skills Mathematics, an 85% pass rate in Functional Skills English and a 100% pass rate in GCSE English resits, with both students achieving Grade 5.

Students studying English as an Additional Language also achieved a 100% pass rate at Level 2 and a 67% pass rate at Level 3, with an average grade of Merit+.

These results come at an important time for industries including engineering, advanced manufacturing, construction and digital technologies, where there is growing demand for highly skilled workers. UTC Plymouth combines academic study with technical education, employer engagement and industry placements, giving students the knowledge, practical skills and professional experience to prepare for higher education, apprenticeships and professional careers.
