There’s reason to celebrate today as South Devon High School pupils collect their GCSE results.

Over 70% achieved a grade 9-4 in English, Maths and Science. There was high achievement in other subjects too, with a 100% pass rate for Sport, Coaching and Public Services; 81% achievement (at Distinction*- Merit) in Hospitality and 71%, A*- B grade, in Childcare.

Noah Blake, 16 from Torquay, achieved grades 9-6 in a range of subjects including;  English Literature, Maths, Art, Photography and History. He now plans to specialise in either Marine Biology or Psychology, he said: “I chose South Devon High School because it offered me exactly what I needed. Not only did it allow me to embrace who I truly was without being scared, it also allowed me to thrive in class due to the amazing and kind teachers that were always willing to help! I did not feel pressured at all to perform a certain way and I was purely allowed to be the best of myself!”

Noah’s mum, Victoria, added: “I have been consistently impressed with the level of teaching at South Devon High School. The teachers here genuinely care about the students' progress and offer an exceptional level of support. I honestly cannot express how grateful I am to the High School for guiding my son through his GCSEs and helping him to achieve so well. I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending South Devon High School to any parent looking to give their child the opportunity to thrive in an environment that steps outside of the standard and into the amazing.”

Jack Hannaford-Hill, 16 from Paignton, studied GCSE subjects in Business Studies, Sociology, History, Geography, English, Maths and Science achieving grades 5-8 across these subjects. He now plans to study A Levels at South Devon College. Jack said: “When I heard about South Devon High School, I knew that it was the perfect choice for me. It has a professional learning environment, friendly staff and a lovely school building. I also knew that South Devon College and University Centre South Devon was all in the same place - making it the perfect choice! The teachers are extremely kind and helpful. I also made a lot of friends - a few of which I believe are life-long friends!”
