Plymouth University’s world class facilities will again go on show to prospective students and their families at a second Undergraduate Open Day this autumn.

Around 10,000 people attended a similar event in October, where they were given a glimpse of why Plymouth has this year earned a place among the top 300 of the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

With applications for places at the institution rising around 2% in the last cycle, and the UCAS deadline just two months away, the University has taken the unprecedented step of organising a second event for Saturday 16 November.

It will give all those considering studying in Plymouth the chance to get a flavour of the unrivalled student experience available on campus and across the city and region.

Student Recruitment Manager Cassandra Paxton-Denny said: “Plymouth’s commitment to providing an outstanding student experience starts at Open Day, and the response to our October event demonstrates its success. There was fantastic feedback from students and their families and we are confident those who attend in November will be equally impressed and realise they can achieve their potential by becoming a part of our University.”

The second Open Day will again include an opportunity to tour the Halls of Residence, with a guarantee to provide university-managed living accommodation for all applicants who choose Plymouth as their firm, first choice institution and apply for accommodation before 31st July 2014.

It also features presentations and advice on the main issues affecting prospective students, including budgeting workshops, assistance with the application process and support on fees and funding. There will also be a dedicated programme of activities for parents and guardians to answer any questions they may have ahead of their child leaving home for the first time.

There will also be talks about specific subject areas, with the chance to meet some of the University’s world class academics, current students and recent graduates, as well as tours of the wider city to see the huge range of facilities and opportunities it offers Plymouth students.

Professor David Coslett, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Plymouth University, said: “At Plymouth, we are committed to creating opportunities for our students to develop both academically and personally as they begin the next chapter of their lives. Our Open Days offer prospective students the chance to see how they might achieve this at one of the country's leading universities, and in this fantastic city. Together, we can inspire them to exceed their expectations.”

The Open Day on Saturday 16 November runs from 9am-4.30pm, and more information is available at www.plymouth.ac.uk. If you are unable to attend the event but would still like the opportunity to visit, contact the Student Recruitment team on 01752 585858 or email prospectus@plymouth.ac.uk.
