After a tightly fought contest in Year 10 with campaigns including promotional videos, posters, badges and even giving out free cake, Natasha Barber and Connor Burn have been elected as Head Girl and Head Boy at Ridgeway School.

Both students, who are actively involved in school life, beat off some stiff competition for the prestigious roles.

As Head Girl Natasha is keen to work with the school staff to ensure improved road safety and facilities and as Head Boy Connor wants to build on the success of last year’s GCSE results.

“I was a tutor group representative on the Junior Leadership Team last year and feel that this experience, combined with my hardworking nature, equip me to lead the Team in the coming months during the transition to Plympton Academy, “said Natasha.

Her interests outside school include reading, endurance running and astronomy. She is studying Business Studies and Geography and would like to train as a teacher or perhaps start her own business locally.

“I am really looking forward to being part of Ridgeway’s continued drive for improvement and success,” said Connor.

An able mathematician and scientist, Connor would love to secure a place at Cambridge University to study Synthetic Chemistry or Biochemistry. In his spare time, Connor enjoys mountain biking in Plym Valley and Cann Woods and playing table tennis.

“Natasha and Connor represent what fantastic students we have here,” said Principal Lisa Boorman. “Each of them are involved in school life and everyone here at Ridgeway is looking forward to seeing how they use their new roles to help all of our students develop into well rounded and confident young people. “
