The Ridgeway School GCSE Certificate and Awards evening was held recently to celebrate the personal, academic, sporting and community achievements of last year’s Ridgeway GCSE students.

The students were presented with their GCSE Certificates and awards. This year it included the new award of Sports Personality of the Year, which was won by Liam Weir.

The evening was hosted by Martin Poveda, Head of Post 16 and Caroline McVicker, Head of Year 11.

The guest speaker was former Ridgeway School student Dr Daniel Puleston who is a Fellow of Oxford University. He gave an inspiring talk about his own scientific discoveries and life at Oxford University.

The event was held in the school’s main hall and was well attended by students, families and friends who were entertained by the Ridgeway Choir, with a taster of their upcoming performance of The Musketeers.

“It was a fantastic evening,” said Martin Poveda. “The students all worked so hard and deserved the recognition.”
