Students at Plympton Academy have been celebrating some fantastic A Level and BTEC results this year with overall student progress again increasing from previous years.
A quarter of results were at the highest grades of A*, A or Distinction* in A level and BTEC, with 79% at A*- C or Distinction*/ Merit across the A level and BTEC range.
This year’s overall pass rate for A Levels and BTEC subjects is 99%. Most subjects, including maths, biology, physics, chemistry, fine art and photography achieved a 100% pass rate. Engineering and sport BTEC also achieved a 100% Distinction* pass rate.
Lisa Boorman, Principal said: "These are great results for us, our pass rate of 99% mirrors the staff and students’ hard work.”

Two areas of the Academy which have experienced significant investment recently, Performing Arts and Sport, produced outstanding results with 75% of students achieving the highest grades of Distinction* or Distinction across both subjects.

The new Performing Arts Centre and 3G pitch (which is due to be constructed this year) will provide first class facilities to further inspire excellence in both of these subjects.

There were many outstanding individual performances. Tia Auguste gained three A Levels: A (Religious Studies), A (Sociology), B (Psychology) and is going on to study law at Cardiff University.

Mitchell Harding studied BTEC level 3 Subsidiary diplomas gaining Distinction* (Applied Science), Distinction* (Business Studies), Distinction* (Sport), and is going to study Sports Therapy at Marjon in Plymouth.

Esme Turlej gained three A Levels; A* (Art), A (Photography), B (Psychology) and is going on to study Fine Art at Bath Spa university.

“Everyone here at Plympton Academy wishes every student the best for their future whether they are going on to university or in to the workplace,” said Lisa Boorman.
