Rowcroft to open new shop at Torquay Harbour
Rowcroft Hospice is setting sail for Torquay Harbour this summer with the launch of its brand-new boutique that’s due to open on Thursday 24 July – just in time for the busy school holiday season.
Perfectly positioned in the heart of the harbour’s multi-million-pound redevelopment – a flagship feature of Torbay’s wider regeneration project – the shop will offer an eye-catching and sustainable mix of high-quality pre-loved items, alongside a carefully curated new range of on-trend summer clothing and homewares.
Open seven days a week, 10am to 6pm, the shop will be Rowcroft’s 17th store across South Devon. It is all set to become a go-to destination for holidaymakers, as well as locals looking for something special, unique and great value. With its modern and stylish design, and a strong focus on sustainability, the new store will add to the charm of Torquay’s beautiful waterfront.
“This is such an exciting step for Rowcroft,” said Caroline Wannell, Director of Retail at Rowcroft Hospice. “We’re thrilled to be part of the vibrant new energy down at the harbour. With thousands of tourists expected over the summer, and with everyone exploring the newly rejuvenated harbour area, it’s a fantastic opportunity to raise vital funds for the hospice.”
All profits from the shop will go directly towards funding Rowcroft’s expert care for people with life-limiting illnesses across South Devon.
Shop Manager Tracey Kennedy said:
“Every item sold will help us care for someone in our community. So whether you're picking up a beach-ready outfit, a homeware treasure, or just popping in to browse - you'll be helping us to make a real difference for local patients and families. Retail therapy has never felt so good!”
The shop’s launch comes at a time when UK hospices are facing growing financial pressures, with rising costs, limited government funding, and increasing demand for end-of-life care. Rowcroft Hospice needs to raise £11 million each year to deliver its services, with only 24% of this funded by the NHS - the rest comes from the generosity of the community, including proceeds from its shops.
