Megan Carr, a 19 year old from Tavistock, has raised £1,300.00, which she has kindly donating to the Grown Up Congenital Heart (GUCH) department at Derriford Hospital.

In memory of her best friend, Emily, who suffered with many heart problems and unfortunately passed away in January at Derriford Hospital, Megan ran the half marathon and received many donations.

Megan said: “Emily was an incredible woman. She always showed such strength and courage through her 19 years of life, she was an amazing inspiration and she has left a huge gap in many people’s lives. I’m so glad that I managed to raise that amount of money in Emily’s memory and I will definitely be doing many more in the future. The support that I received from everyone, Emily's family, my own family and friends, and those who were inspired by Emily's story was absolutely incredible, and I can't thank them all enough!”

Megan presented the cheque on the 18th August to the Cardiology department.

The money will be spent on a 24 hour heart monitoring machine.
