LEADING national housing and regeneration specialist, Keepmoat, is lending a helping hand to local charities in Plymouth.

Keepmoat is donating over £3,000 of kitchen materials to three local charities; Dartmoor Zoological Park, Gables Farm Dogs and Cats Home and local pony sanctuary Ponderosa, will all benefit.

The donation is a direct result of Keepmoat’s partnership with Plymouth Community Homes, a leading housing provider in the area.
Dartmoor Zoological Park, a family run zoo in the South Hams of Devon, will receive tiles to complete the renovation of their post mortem room.  The completion of the room will mean the zoo will be awarded with enhanced zoo status, allowing them to secure exchanges of more animals from other zoos around the world and giving greater ability to implement breeding programmes.

Neil Jones from Dartmoor Zoological Park said; “The post mortem room will be an extremely important part of our education programmes for students of animal management and the next generation of vets. We have good facilities in place and an expert dissection teacher almost ready to go, so the remaining tiles we need are much appreciated.”

Ponderosa, a not-for-profit horse and pony rescue located at Colony Farm in Efford, has received a complete new kitchen. Keepmoat’s subcontractor, Pilon have kindly agreed to fit the new kitchen for their storage and staff room, enabling them to have more storage and side space. This donation will allow them to open to the public again.

Gables Farm Dogs and Cats Home, the third charity to benefit from Keepmoat’s contribution, rehomes animals all over Devon, Somerset, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. They will be using the donation of kitchen units and worktops to create greater food storage facilities for the animals. They also received some hand basins and toilets which they will be using to carry out some much needed updates to the staff facilities.

The donation demonstrates a strong and successful partnership between Keepmoat and Plymouth Community Homes.

Paul Munro, Keepmoat’s regional director for the South West, said; “We are very pleased to be able to help these three local charities as each one heavily relies on outside donations.

“We often donate materials from our programmes – the work each charity does is fantastic and they are often under-resourced. We are proud to make a positive contribution to the local community.”

Keepmoat is a national market leader in sustainable community regeneration, housing, and planned and responsive repairs to the UK housing industry.
